A team of students travelled down from Cambridge to the Dartford Olympic Judo facility in Kent last weekend to complete in the English BJJ Open. Having been open only 6 months, and as one of the smaller academies, Axis placed 10th out of 40 teams.

On the Saturday, 7 students entered the White belt divisions, with David Parr and Eddie Finlay both winning Bronze medals in the Super-Heavyweight and Ultra-Heavyweight categories respectively.

The next day, another 5 students entered the Blue belt divisions. Jon Nicholson won Gold in the Light-Featherweight division and Vincent Rangel fought his way through to the final of a large Middleweight field, narrowly losing an exciting match to bring home the Silver medal.

Well done to all the students who entered, and thanks to everyone at the academy involved in training during the run up to the tournament.
